What's Left To-Do...

With so much going on in my life right now, I decided that it was time to sit down and make a list of everything that I still need to get done before this baby comes. That way I can check things off the list and not be stressed about whether I'm forgetting something the last few weeks! I am such a list person! And maybe this will also help someone else who is expecting :)
I put everything in order, but I may not necessarily stick exactly to it. And if anyone has any suggestions of what to add to the list, please comment below! I need all the help and advice I can get!

-Sign up for WIC... can you believe I haven't done this yet? It would have saved me so much money if I had done it earlier!
-Sign up for childbirth class
-Create Baby Shower invite list for my sister and mom
-Finish Registry's
-Babymoon! Matt and I are taking a little vacation before baby boy comes!
-Baby shower
-Finish thank you notes for shower
-Buy any remaining items I still need
-Prepare freezer meals for after delivery
-Fill out hospital pre-registration form
-Tour maternity wing in hospital
-Research childbirth options
-Create birth/delivery plan
-Prepare hospital bag
-Give sister phone numbers of who to call when I go into labor
-Transfer money needed for circumcision into my account
-Make plans for mom to stay
-Prepare nursery
-Wash baby clothes
-Install car seat
-Create electronic baby announcement
-Download sleepy music on iPod for baby (I want him to be used to noise when he's sleeping)
-Sterilize and clean house
-Study up on newborn vaccines
-Have a baby!! :)

I probably won't do everything in exact order, but that's basically left of what I need to do. Hopefully I get it all done! I think I might be crazy, taking on 13 credits at school, but Heavenly Father will provide a way!

Week 25!

I can't believe I'm 25 weeks already!! So many people told me that as soon as I found out the gender at 20 weeks, time would fly by, and it's so true. I've been the world's biggest blog slacker, and haven't posted in few weeks, but I plan on being much better that. I just started a full-time semester for school (am I crazy?), I have a calling in the Stake RS, I have my photography business on the side, and I'm trying to make preparations for a baby, so bear with me! These next few months are going to be a bit crazy around here. I have luckily, stayed on top of my baby journal (for the most part). I love writing letters to my baby boy, and tracking how I'm feeling and what's going on in every doc apt. Sometimes I honestly forget that I'm pregnant when I'm super busy and not thinking about it. Then I look down, and hey! There's a baby down there! My favorite thing is feeling his fingers (at least I think it's his fingers, or maybe toes) brush against the side of my uterus. It's different then a kick, it's very light, like a brushing feeling of several tiny fingers. I love it! I just want to grab them! I think he knows I'm telling you about that, because he's brushing his little fingers or toes right now as I type! I also love feeling him move his whole body. Sometimes he'll kick on my left side, but I feel another movement on my right side, and I realize how big he is! I'm excited for when I can tell where he is at, 24-7. I can't tell where he is unless he moves, and I can't usually tell what body parts are moving. But soon!!

How far along? 25 weeks
Baby size: 13.6 inches, a pound and a half, about the size of an eggplant!
Total weight gain/loss: Ughh... last week I was at 157 at the doctors. My pre-pregnancy weight was 135. But I don't look like I've gained fat, it all seems to be going to my middle where baby is at, which is a good thing!
Maternity clothes? I can still fit in my pre-pregnancy shirts, but maternity tops are more comfortable. Maternity pants all the way!
Stretch marks? None on my tummy, but some on my breasts
Sleep: Good for the most part. I love my pillows!!
Best moment this week: Feeling his whole body move at once!
Movement: Every two or so hours, he wakes up and kicks for about 30-60 minutes on and off!
Food cravings: Lots of fruit, baked potatoes, chocolate
Anything making you queasy or sick: nope
Have you started to show yet: Oh yes! you can't mistake!
Gender: Boy!
Symptoms: It's getting difficult to bend over, and if I squat to pick something up from the floor, Matt has to help me get back up! lol
Wedding rings on or off? On!
Looking forward to: Buying him more clothes! :)

Last Doctor's Appointment Update:
I'm measuring perfectly, baby's heart rate is 136 (right where it should be), I've got great blood pressure, and she said i should be expecting some Braxton Hicks contractions soon! Haven't had any yet though, and I consider that a good sign. I also got my flu shot, which made me get the flu. :/ Luckily I'm almost over it. Next appointment I have to do my glucose test... Ugh. Not looking forward to drinking that nasty stuff. Wish me luck!

Journal #14: Week 22

How far along? 22 weeks
Baby size: small doll- 8 inches, slightly over 1 pound
Total weight gain/loss: not sure! 12+
Maternity clothes? My buttoned up shirts don't fit anymore. I look like I'm going to pop out of them!
Stretch marks? Yep... proud battle scars right? I can feel my stomach stretching every day
Sleep: great!
Best moment this week: SEEING my tummy move as he kicks! He's starting to kick pretty hard, and I LOVE seeing my tummy do the wave!
Movement: Every two or so hours, he wakes up and kicks for about 30-60 minutes on and off!
Food cravings: Lots of fruit, french fries (the thick baked kind, not the scraggly greasy McDonald's ones)
Anything making you queasy or sick: nope
Have you started to show yet: Most people notice now, and I even have people asking me in the grocery store when I'm due!
Gender: Boy!
Symptoms: back pains, lots of tightness in my tummy
Wedding rings on or off? On, but tight!
Looking forward to: The next time he wakes up and I can watch my tummy move again!

No pictures this week again... I need a reminder! My pregnancy brain can't keep track of so many things!

Journal #13: Week 21

How far along? 21 weeks!
Baby size: Banana, 1 pound!!
Total weight gain/loss: Probably about 12 pounds
Maternity clothes? absolutely maternity pants, but I'm still fitting into most of my shirts.
Stretch marks? Yep, little purple and pink lines on my breasts, but luckily not on my tummy
Sleep: Great!
Best moment this week: Buying a car seat and stroller and setting it up with Matt!
Movement: LOTS! They're getting harder and harder too!
Food cravings: Chocolate peanut butter ice cream, baked potatoes, and ice cold water
Anything making you queasy or sick: nope!
Have you started to show yet: Oh yes!
Gender: BOY!!!!
Symptoms: back pains
Wedding rings on or off? On, but tight!
Belly button in or out? Still in but the edges are starting to poke out!
Looking forward to: Feeling this baby move more and more!

Sorry there's no pictures! Ive been a bit of a slacker!

Journal #12: Week 20

How far along? 20 weeks! HALFWAY BABY!!!
Baby size: Cantaloupe! 6.5 inches!
Total weight gain/loss: Ughhh... a little over 12 pounds maybe? I know weight gain in necessary, but I'm a little ahead of schedule in that area. Good news is that it's all going to my belly, not my thighs, butt, arms, or legs.
Maternity clothes? Loving maternity shorts, jeans, and dresses. I'm still half regular shirts and half maternity
Stretch marks? No, but my stomach is really tight and feels like my tissue is slowly tearing :(
Sleep: Sometimes good sometimes bad.
Best moment this week: Finding out we're having a beautiful baby BOY!!!!!!! :)
Movement: LOTS and I LOVE every single one!! It's starting to turn more into kicks instead of taps. I started feeling quickening (baby taps, or first movements) at exactly 17 weeks, and others could feel it from the outside at 19 weeks. That's pretty early! But I love it. It's amazing that a little precious, perfect, innocent human baby is growing inside of my body!
Food cravings: Lots of fruit (lucky me!), taco bell chalupas, and chocolate. Oh and POTATOES! I love baked french fries, loaded baked potatoes (crave these every single day), hash browns, mashed; if it's a form of potato, I love it!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Smells make me want to gag, but that's about it!
Have you started to show yet: Oh yes! Strangers are starting to ask me when I'm due! I LOVE that part!!
Gender: BOY!!!!
Symptoms: back pains
Wedding rings on or off? On, but tight!
Looking forward to: Now that i'm at the half-way mark and we just found out what the gender is, I feel like there's not a whole lot of excitement between now and when I go into labor so I'm not sure what to look forward to. I'm happy just looking forward to tomorrow, another day of being pregnant with my sweet son!

OUR SWEET BABY BOY!!!

We have a SON!! A beautiful baby boy!
Our appointment was at 2:50pm. By 2:00, I was pacing the kitchen floor, my hands were sweating, and  I was just ready to get in the car and go! I was really excited to find out the gender for sure, but I was most excited to see my baby on the ultrasound! We had an ultrasound done at 9 weeks, and he looked like a little gummy bear! I was so excited to find out how much he'd grown, and that he was growing fine. Anyways, Matt came home at 2:30 and was just as excited and anxious as I was. So we left for the doctor's office and almost as soon as we sat down in the waiting room, we were called back by the ultrasound technician. It all happened so fast! She took us into a little room, I laid on the bed, she skirted warm gel on my tummy, and got to work with that wand thing of hers! All of a sudden our baby was on the screen! Matt immediately beamed!! He is going to be such a good father! We first looked at his heart, profile, stomach (it was full, he had just eaten!), and bladder (it was empty, he had just peed! lol). Then the ultrasound tech moved the wand down on my tummy and the screen was full of shapes I couldn't decipher. She said, "Oh! Well there it is! There's baby's gender, you might as well just say it!" And I said, "Wait, what?? I don't know what that is! What is it??" I was so surprised that "boy" just couldn't come out of my mouth. So she said, "Really? Look, right here." Then Matt goes, "It's a boy!?!?!" "Yep!" He was soooooooo excited!!! We both laughed and almost cried! We were having a SON!! But I made her check three times, just to be sure! :) I would have been just as excited and happy if it was a girl- it's just so exciting to find out the gender, no matter what it is!
For the next 45 minutes, we checked his heart, spine, arms, legs, umbilical cord, kidneys, lungs, feet, brain, face, and every other inch of his body. It was amazing. One of my favorite parts was when we saw him lying on his side, with both arms above his head and he wiggled and moved one of his arms down like he was trying to itch his face! It was SO cute! We have that part of the ultrasound on DVD and I've watched it at least seven times since! :) I love him soooo much already!! And am so lucky to be his mom!!

Journal #11: Week 15

How far along? 15 weeks
Baby size: Navel Orange (4.5 inches)
Total weight gain/loss: About 4-5+ pounds is my guess
Maternity clothes? YES! I finally went maternity shopping this week because wearing my regular jeans was beginning to literally hurt. A post to come on that soon!
Stretch marks? I don’t know if the stretch marks on my lower hips/upper thighs were there before… but there’s a few there. :/
Sleep: Getting up to pee 4-5 times a night, and my joints hurt if I sleep too long on one side.
Best moment this week: Being able to finally feel my uterus! I was exercising this week and I could feel it just by standing, and even more by lying gently on my tummy. It is the weirdest thing ever, to know that there’s someone growing inside of you and you can actually feel his/her home!
Movement: Not sure… I know it’s still a little early, but I know some women who have felt it this soon. I ate a lot yesterday for dinner, and I don’t know if it was just my digestive system doing its job, or if I actually felt little butterfly movements.
Food cravings: Lots of fruit (lucky me!), sour candy, chocolate ice cream (not so lucky me)
Anything making you queasy or sick: Rarely, and it’s usually if I don’t eat for a few hours.
Have you started to show yet: YES! I am sooo excited!! For the last three weeks it’s really started to show, especially this week. It’s still so unreal to me!
Gender: 70% sure it’s a girl… read my post about my gender draino crystal test!
Symptoms: headaches, but I’m starting to get used to that; joint aches, and occasional tummy growing pains.
Wedding rings on or off? On
Looking forward to: Feeling this little creature move!!

Journal #10: Weeks 12, 13, and 14

I've been a huge slacker and haven't posted for a few weeks! So I'll just combine the last three weeks into one :)

How far along? 14 weeks
Baby size: Navel orange- about 4.5 inches, 2-3 oz.
Total weight gain/loss: 4 pounds according to last week's doctors appt.
Maternity clothes? I am desperate for some new pants! Only 2 pairs of pants and 1 pair of shorts barely still fit! I usually still have to unbutton those. I tried on one of my maternity shirts yesterday that my mom bought me and it was SO. COMFY!
Stretch marks? not yet!
Sleep: Sleeping pretty good, I still have to get up 3 times a night to pee, and every time I do get up, my stomach starts to hurt really bad. Just by getting out of bed makes my stomach feel sick and achy, but then I get back in bed and I'm fine. Weird!
Best moment this week: Being with family for the 4th of July! And getting a BUNCH of clothes for baby at a quarter sale :) post on that coming soon.
Movement: Nope, but hopefully in the next few weeks!
Food cravings: Orange julius's, sour candy, and sweet pork salad from Cafe Rio!!
Anything making you queasy or sick: I still don't like the thought of eating meat if it's not mixed in with a dish. I have been getting a weird queasy feeling once a day, but it's not at all like the nauseous feeling I had before. It's kind of achy all around my stomach and waist, and it's effecting my actual stomach. I just don't feel good, I don't know how else to describe it.
Have you started to show yet: Just a little bump! But I just feel fat, not pregnant. I've never felt uncomfortable with my weight or size, but I'm starting to. I've never been plump!
Gender: I still think it's a girl; Matt thinks it's a boy :)
Symptoms: back aches, stomach aches, growing pains in abdomen, headaches, queasy aches- all SORTS of aches!!
Wedding rings on or off? On
Looking forward to: Feeling little baby moving and finding out gender in 6 weeks!

I'm finally in my second trimester!! Woohooo!! I've heard almost every woman say that the second trimester was the best and easiest. Besides the nausea that I had early on (thank Heavens that's gone!), I don't feel all that much better. Still tired, even more achy, and even more emotionally off balance. But I guess I'm still just barely into the 2nd tri, so hopefully things turn around soon!

Baby Quarter Sale!

Today was a great day! I went to the Other Mother's Quarter Sale in Nampa this morning, and for all of you who don't know what Other Mother's is, it's a secondhand store for babies, mommies, kids, teens, and even men. But it's mostly for babies and kids. Anyways, they get so many donations that every first Saturday of the month, they have this sale where they spread out piles of baby clothes and toys over 8-12 long tables, and each item is $0.25!! It's awesome. And I really don't mind secondhand stuff as long as it's barely used and looks new. The store doesn't accept clothes with lots of stains, holes, or wear. And I even got some stuff that still had the tags on. Anyways, I went this morning, 5 minutes until opening, and there was a line of about 50 women and kids at the door! My mom, sister-in-law, and aunt met me and dug through the mountains of baby clothes with me, and we had a lot of fun! Some women can really be quite vicious when it comes to bargains, and today was no exception. I didn't see any fighting, tugging, or yelling, or anything like that, but if I was going through a pile of clothes, women would just come up and go through what's already in front of me, or they'd be next to me, digging to the bottom of the pile and throwing the stuff they didn't want on top of the pile I was looking at. I am not a crazy shopper that will fight for great deals, but I expect the same kind of respect and courtesy that I give other people. Some mothers are just crazy!! Anyways, I can't believe what I got for how much I paid for!!! It was the coolest shopping trip EVER!!!!

I went home with...

            Girl                                                                               Boy
            11 onesies                                                                     13 onesies
            2 leggings                                                                      1 legging
            3 shorts                                                                         3 shirts
2 dresses                                                                       1 pair of sweat pants
3 overalls (including a Ralph Lauren                               3 sleepers
            overall dress that I love!!
            2 shirts
            2 jeans

Coming to a total of $11.66!!!

We still need a stroller, dresser, high chair, and toys. More bargain shopping posts coming later!!!

Journal #9: Week 11

How far along? 11 weeks
Baby size: Kumquat (whatever the heck that is!)
Total weight gain/loss: About 3 pounds?
Maternity clothes? Nope
Stretch marks? Nope

Sleep: I usually sleep in until 9:30 or 10, and I have to get up every night at least three times to pee. I hate that! And its always the same times, 2am, 6:45am, and 9am.

Best moment this week: Buying a new car!! We were really worried about putting our baby in the front seat of our truck. We put our car seat in and I sat in the middle while Matt drove and it was really crammed. So we found a little car that is perfect and we could pay for straight out! No car payments for us! Wooohooo!!

Movement: No, sometimes I forget I'm pregnant! I can't wait to feel this little human!
Food cravings: Fruit, sour candy, and bugles!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Chicken makes me want to gag! Not really queasy unless I don't eat for a while. Some days I feel like I could just eat and eat and eat, and other days, I can only eat a small breakfast, lunch, and dinner with nothing in between.
Have you started to show yet: Some days my tummy sticks out and on other days I don't look pregnant at all.

Gender: As much as I would LOVE to have a boy first, I think it's a sweet little girl!

Symptoms: A little tired, headaches every day, stuffy nose, and occasional nauseousness

Looking forward to: The end of the first trimester. I want my energy back!

This week, bones and cartilage are forming, and small indentations on the legs are developing into knees and ankles, as well as on the arms to form elbows. Baby is also forming teeth buds this week! The Holloway gap may be setting in already; most of my nieces and nephews have it.

Sweet Moments
I was sitting eating breakfast this morning and thinking about what I wanted to get done today. I just got a bunch of baby stuff a few days ago from family members, and I decided that I was going to organize the baby's room today, so that everything wasn't just sitting out. Then I started thinking about the word "maternity." Maternity- maternal- motherhood- mother. Mom. I'm a mom? I'm a MOM! Holy cow! I honestly started to tear up! I feel so young still, I'm only 20, but I am a mother. I have the most wonderful husband in the whole world, and I feel so blessed to be his wife. Thinking about being married still makes me jittery and excited, and on some days, I just sit and think about how unreal this dream is, and how happy I am. And now I'm pregnant, with a human baby coming to us in December, and it just blows my mind even more! And it makes me SO incredibly happy! I may only be twenty years old, but I have the same capabilities as a twenty-seven or thirty year old mom. I have the capability to love with my whole soul, to give all that I have to this baby, even if that means my body. Or my life. I love being a mom already. And even though I can't see my baby on a regular basis, I can't feel or hear or touch my baby, I love him/her sooo much already. I know it's not going to be easy, but I would do anything for this little soul.

Journal #6: OUR FIRST APPOINTMENT!

The day finally came. I had tossed and turned since 2 in the morning and suddenly my alarm clock was going off at 8:30. I crawled out of bed with knots in my stomach. I haven't been so nervous in a very very long time! I ate breakfast, took a shower, and got ready all while stressing out about what could go wrong. What if there's nothing even in there? What if my examination hurts? What if the doctor isn't very sensitive like I need her to be? What if there's something wrong with my baby?? And on and on and on... Matt came home from work around 10 and I couldn't stop smiling! I smile when I'm nervous! So we got in the car and were on our way. My hands were sweating, my whole body was shaking, and I was just a nervous wreck! My body is very private, and I've never had any kind of examination like what was going to happen, so as you can imagine, I just felt like I was gonna puke! Anyways, so we get there and check in. A few minutes later a nice nurse calls my name and we head back to the room. She took my height and weight (I've gained 2 pounds already :/ ). I then took a urine test (no big deal) and then the doctor came in and asked me some questions. She was very nice and I would recommend her to anyone! Then I changed into a hospital looking gown that was kind of difficult to keep closed. She came in and kept me as covered as she could as she did the exam. The whole time she was talking to us about her cat and our dog and I was distracted the whole time! It was NO BIG DEAL! Really not that bad, only took a minute or so. I can't believe I stressed out so much about it! She used the doppler to try and find the baby's heart beat, but little baby is still tucked under my pelvic bone so we couldn't catch anything. I was a little disapointed. It just didn't seem quite real yet. So then we talked some more and she went over a packet of what to expect, and then I went and did a blood test. It was funny when I walked in there; there was a young nurse in pink and then a nurse in blue that I immediately knew (Sister Robinson)! She's in the same ward at church with my mom, and I see her at bunco all the time! (Yes I play bunco with a bunch of moms, and I love it!) So that was funny. And then I went back to my room and our doctor Jen came in and said that normally they only do one ultrasound at 20 weeks because insurance only covers one, but she was going to check with the ultrasound tech to see if she could sneak us in for a few minutes just so we could hear the heartbeat and see our little baby! It was so nice of them! So we went back to a dark room, the tech slathered the gel on my tummy, and wah-la!! There was a BABY on the screen!! An actual baby! Inside of me! I couldn't believe it! It finally hit me that it was real. I laughed and he wiggled his nubby legs! It was sooooo cute and soooo crazy!! Seriosuly, the coolest thing I have ever seen in my life. He/she was a wiggly little thing, and everytime it moved, Matt and I would gasp! Then we heard the heartbeat: AMAZING!!! Sounded like a washing machine: swish swish swish! 167 beats per minute. Seriosuly, it is the most amazing thing in the world that we created another human being, and that our next little family member is already inside of me! It just blows my mind everytime I think about it.

This is a front view, as if baby's facing you. You can see little arm and leg nubs on each side, as well as the sac at the bottom that feeds baby. Our little gummy bear is one inch long!

We saw baby's little heart working hard! So amazing! I can't believe we're parents!!!

Next appoinment is in 4 weeks! Can't wait!

Journal #5: Week 8

How far along? 8 weeks
Baby size: Raspberry
Total weight gain/loss: No idea, it seems to fluctuate a lot! Maybe 2 or 3 pounds
Maternity clothes? Nope, but my jeans are getting tighter. I have to unbutton them after I eat lol
Stretch marks? Nope, been moisturizing every day!
Sleep: Sleeping pretty good, but I’ve been sleeping late this week, a little too late
Best moment this week: Realizing I only have 4 more weeks left in the first trimester! And feeling better, and having more energy this week!
Movement: Maybe not the baby, but I can feel all of my organs moving. The baby is starting to move its legs and arms this week (of course I can’t feel that yet) but I’m pretty sure I felt my uterus actually move when I put my iPod up to it…
Food cravings: Changes every day- chili, spicy beans and rice, pizza- but I always crave fruity popsicles! That is a constant crave. And cantaloupe
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not as much! My nose seems to be a little back to normal, it’s not as overwhelming as it used to be. But that may change again. Usually when I eat something I feel better
Have you started to show yet: My lower abdomen is a little tougher, and when I was at Walmart yesterday, I looked down at my stomach and it was totally sticking out! I looked pregnant! And then I sucked it in and I looked fairly back to normal. So… I sometimes show, if that counts J

Gender:  Definitely a girl. That’s my gut instinct.

Symptoms: A little tired, some queasiness, occasional headaches
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On

Looking forward to: Tomorrow. I just want to enjoy one day at a time!
