How far along? 20 weeks! HALFWAY BABY!!!
Baby size: Cantaloupe! 6.5 inches!
Total weight gain/loss: Ughhh... a little over 12 pounds maybe? I know weight gain in necessary, but I'm a little ahead of schedule in that area. Good news is that it's all going to my belly, not my thighs, butt, arms, or legs.
Maternity clothes? Loving maternity shorts, jeans, and dresses. I'm still half regular shirts and half maternity
Stretch marks? No, but my stomach is really tight and feels like my tissue is slowly tearing :(
Sleep: Sometimes good sometimes bad.
Best moment this week: Finding out we're having a beautiful baby BOY!!!!!!! :)
Movement: LOTS and I LOVE every single one!! It's starting to turn more into kicks instead of taps. I started feeling quickening (baby taps, or first movements) at exactly 17 weeks, and others could feel it from the outside at 19 weeks. That's pretty early! But I love it. It's amazing that a little precious, perfect, innocent human baby is growing inside of my body!
Food cravings: Lots of fruit (lucky me!), taco bell chalupas, and chocolate. Oh and POTATOES! I love baked french fries, loaded baked potatoes (crave these every single day), hash browns, mashed; if it's a form of potato, I love it!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Smells make me want to gag, but that's about it!
Have you started to show yet: Oh yes! Strangers are starting to ask me when I'm due! I LOVE that part!!
Gender: BOY!!!!
Symptoms: back pains
Wedding rings on or off? On, but tight!
Looking forward to: Now that i'm at the half-way mark and we just found out what the gender is, I feel like there's not a whole lot of excitement between now and when I go into labor so I'm not sure what to look forward to. I'm happy just looking forward to tomorrow, another day of being pregnant with my sweet son!
OUR SWEET BABY BOY!!!
Our appointment was at 2:50pm. By 2:00, I was pacing the kitchen floor, my hands were sweating, and I was just ready to get in the car and go! I was really excited to find out the gender for sure, but I was most excited to see my baby on the ultrasound! We had an ultrasound done at 9 weeks, and he looked like a little gummy bear! I was so excited to find out how much he'd grown, and that he was growing fine. Anyways, Matt came home at 2:30 and was just as excited and anxious as I was. So we left for the doctor's office and almost as soon as we sat down in the waiting room, we were called back by the ultrasound technician. It all happened so fast! She took us into a little room, I laid on the bed, she skirted warm gel on my tummy, and got to work with that wand thing of hers! All of a sudden our baby was on the screen! Matt immediately beamed!! He is going to be such a good father! We first looked at his heart, profile, stomach (it was full, he had just eaten!), and bladder (it was empty, he had just peed! lol). Then the ultrasound tech moved the wand down on my tummy and the screen was full of shapes I couldn't decipher. She said, "Oh! Well there it is! There's baby's gender, you might as well just say it!" And I said, "Wait, what?? I don't know what that is! What is it??" I was so surprised that "boy" just couldn't come out of my mouth. So she said, "Really? Look, right here." Then Matt goes, "It's a boy!?!?!" "Yep!" He was soooooooo excited!!! We both laughed and almost cried! We were having a SON!! But I made her check three times, just to be sure! :) I would have been just as excited and happy if it was a girl- it's just so exciting to find out the gender, no matter what it is!
For the next 45 minutes, we checked his heart, spine, arms, legs, umbilical cord, kidneys, lungs, feet, brain, face, and every other inch of his body. It was amazing. One of my favorite parts was when we saw him lying on his side, with both arms above his head and he wiggled and moved one of his arms down like he was trying to itch his face! It was SO cute! We have that part of the ultrasound on DVD and I've watched it at least seven times since! :) I love him soooo much already!! And am so lucky to be his mom!!
